Presents a detailed description of the site and excavated materials. It remains a touchstone for all Great Basin archaeology.

Danger Caver and Hogup Cave were milestones in Great Basin Archaeological studies. Although approximately sixty miles of Great Salt Lake desert separates these two sites, the caves are archaeologically related. Containing fill dating from approximately 6,4000 B.C. through historic times, the data from both caves present insights into the lifeways of successive people who, over thousands of years, adapted to changes in the desert environment.

The result of well-controlled excavation methods done under difficult and demanding circumstances, both nooks include thorough scientific analysis of cultural materials and environmental data. Both are essential studies of the desert west n New World prehistory.

Jesse D. Jennings was professor of anthropology at the University of Utah. He was the author of Accidental Archaeologist: Memoirs of Jesse D. Jennings; Prehistory of Utah and Eastern Great Basin; and Glen Canyon: An Archaeological Summary.
